Hideouts. Places we create for ourselves. A personal dark nothing where you can hide and disappear for a while. A safe and secure resting spot. They all have their own personalities, like creatures living quietly in the forest.
The tension between man and nature is a key element in my work. For the series Where we go when we go I photographed peoples' hideouts. Where can you find refuge, in a world that never stops? These hideouts are situated in different forests in The Netherlands or even in the centre of a busy city. Some are constructed by men, others took shape in a natural way. Most places are often visited, others are long lost forgotten.
